Stephan was diagnosed with Autism as a child. At the age of 34 his conversation was repetitive, he was habitually anxious he followed people around repeating the same questions. He didn’t seem to listen and was mostly only aware of his own needs. He had very poor posture and co-ordination and walked in a stooped position. He tired easily and his visual focus was poor.
After 3 years of the Scotson Technique therapy he is a changed individual. His voice tone is richer and his conversation is much more flexible and interesting. He is far more aware of others and their needs. His responses are much quicker. He is much less anxious. He seems to notice things which were previously invisible to him. He can focus on tasks without distraction which was impossible before.
He does his domestic chores spontaneously almost no prompting. His posture is much better and his movements smoother. His body seems more supple and alive. Altogether it is very encouraging for him as well as myself. He is very much happier himself and much more relaxing and enjoyable as a companion. I don’t think the word Autism is really applies to him anymore.
We have worked with many helpful therapies but the Scotson Technique seems to have been a turning point for Stephan.
